We have developed a new stable isotope labeling method (patent pending) that enables introduction of stable isotopes to various kinds of compounds, including nucleic acids.

In general, stable isotopes are superior to the previous labeling method in the following ways:

• In contrast to fluorescent labeling, the labeled compound undergoes no physical property change, and it is superior as a tracer.
  
• There is no danger of radiation exposure through radioisotopes and it is unnecessary to use a specialized facility. It is also easy to handle.
  
• Because of the above characteristics, safe administration to humans is possible (clinical application).

BONAC has developed an original kinetic analysis tool combining the "BONAC-ssRNAi platform technique" and "stable isotopes," which has the features listed below.

• Enables labeling of nucleic acids at any and all positions of oligomer bases
  
• Enables quantification and qualification (imaging) of labeled oligomer
  
• Enables detection of kinetics of whole RNA molecules through several different stable isotopes labeling of each region of BONAC-ssRNA by stable isotopes are possible)
  
• Enables efficient and significant low cost

Currently，we are developing an imaging technique for nucleic acid labeling using safe isotopes in collaboration with the Hokkaido University Creative Research Institution
